Ted Flaherty, good friend of, and contributor to, the Celtic Music Club passed away last Wednesday.
Brian has sent out the following:
It is with great sadness that I note that Ted Flaherty passed away last week. For decades Ted has enthusiastically supported the club and its members as a musician, a leader and coordinator. He was instrumental in forming a number of very successful music groups within the club for which he arranged musical scores which were outstanding for their harmonies and original compositions. His contribution to the club and its members and his friends has been outstanding and his passing is a great loss. He will be remembered as one of the many members that has ensured the long and enduring success of the club.
Ted’s funeral is on this Friday, October 3rd, at 1.30pm at Peter Elberg Funerals, Grange Rd, Flinders Park. At the end of the funeral Ted has requested that the members of the club who are present play for him our “closing set”, “The Leaving of Liverpool”. To support this it would be good if the members of the club are seated together with their instruments ready.
On Monday the 20th of October the CMC will celebrate Ted’s long association with the CMC and farewell him with a special session. We will play with gusto the tunes that he liked to play with us and some of the original compositions that he wrote for us. If anyone can suggest a tune that they think would be appropriate for this playlist please let me know.
Vale Ted,
Brian
